Through Movement, We Remember

Qoya was developed by Rochelle Schieck through her passion to “explore the emerging essence of the feminine in her own life and in movement.

Steph felt a deep connection to the idea that through movement we remember our essence. Because of that, and the strong desire to share this technique, she became a Certified Qoya facilitator.

The core concepts of Qoya, as explained by Rochelle are that through movement, we remember that as women, our essence is wise, wild and free. The intention of Qoya class is to remember the physical sensation of truth IN your body.

Each Qoya Class has a Unique Theme and includes the following components:

  • Opening ritual to create sacred space
  • Theme is introduced with oracle card drawn for guidance
  • Breathing practice
  • Noticing of the body
  • Heart opening
  • Hip opening
  • Sun Salutations/Dancing Warrior sequence to access the gifts of yoga.
  • Shadow dance
  • Choreographed dance
  • Free dance
  • Community connection
  • Final strengthening
